I. Introduction
The tourism
industry plays and important part in the contribution
of Taiwan's growth. In an effort to further enhance
tourism trade, the Ministry of Transportation
and Communication has given high priority to the promotion
of this annual event.
In 2001,
the Taipei Chinese Food Festival celebrates its 12th
anniversary with several exciting themes promoting the
beauty of Chinese cuisine. This yearly event provides
Taiwan's Food & Beverage industry the opportunity
to showcase the latest trends from the island. Prominent
chefs gather annually to create and promote new recipes
bringing Chinese cuisine to the international stage.
II.
Goals
1.
Explore and promote food-related tourism opportunities.
2. Provide a central stage for Chinese cuisine from
different provinces - in order to highlight the diversity
of Chinese cuisine and also to showcase their own unique
flare.
3. Increase public appreciation of chefs and cuisine
in general.
4. To promote the tradition and beauty of Chinese cuisine
to overseas friends.
III. Facts
and Figures
1. From hosting
thousands of visitors since its inception in 1990, to
more than 100,000 in 2000.
2. More than 150 individual Food & Beverage representatives
attending this memorable event.
3. Growing importance and popularity of the Food and
Beverage field - more than 40 high schools in Taiwan
currently offer relevant courses.
